Genie
Z. Laborde is the author of several books, Influencing
with Integrity: Management Skills for Communication and Negotiation(170,000
sold); the follow-up book, Fine Tune
Your Brain: When Everything's Going Right and What To Do When It Isn't,and
the workbook
90 Days to Communication Excellence. Influencing
with Integrity has been translated into French, Spanish, German, and
Polish. Her latest is Influencing with Integrity
on the Internet,
which is an eBook and a book on paper.
She has produced
the video training films and courses, "Influencing Skills," "TeleSkills,"
"Managing Meetings with PEGASUS," and "Paradigm Changes in Business" (co-produced
with Florida Power and Light). The videos and trainings have been purchased
by Fortune 500 Companies and educational institutions including Hewlett-Packard,
Chase Manhattan Bank, IBM, Rochester Institute of Technology, Continental
Airlines, and Eastman Kodak. Her videos, books and course materials are
also available in Spanish.
Dr. Laborde
holds a Ph.D. in Confluent Education from the University of California
at Santa Barbara. Confluent Education, based on Gestalt psychology, is
the study of the affective and cognitive domains in learning; the program
was funded by a Ford Foundation Grant for Innovative Education. Laborde
received her master's degree from Tulane University and her Bachelor's
from Louisiana State University. She is listed in Who's Who in the West
and is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Association
of Humanistic Psychology, and the American Society for Training and Development
and was formerly on the MBA faculty at John F. Kennedy University. She
is also an artist and has sold approximately fifty paintings in the last
ten years.
In 1992 IBM
requested an alliance with her seminar firm in order to train their customers
in the Influencing with Integrity skills. IBM now conducts an Influencing
with Integrity public seminar across the United States. Genie Z. Laborde
is a recognized leader in the field of communications theory and its practical
applications. She is president of International Dialogue Education Associates,
and her unique qualifications have been a major contribution to the success
of the firm's Excellence Seminars.
In 1992 Dr.
Laborde was selected to be Director of the Neuro-linguistics Network of
ASTD. She conducted a one-day pre-conference seminar, "The Globalization
of Neuro-Linguistics," in 1994, which attracted participants from Singapore,
Australia, and other countries. As co-presenter with Joan R. Smith, Director
of Training of Continental Airlines, Dr. Laborde presented "Integration
of Mind, Body and Consciousness for Business" at ASTD 1996 for 400 participants.
In 1997 Dr. Laborde's presentation, for ASTD and 400 members, was entitled
"Increasing Personal Power and Efficacy with Intuition and Fifth Level
Energy."
In 1991 Dr.
Laborde was invited to Russia to teach two seminars in which she conducted
interesting research that showed a statistically significant shift toward
increased responsibility occurred as indicated by pre- and post-testing.
She has conducted three seminars for the United Nations as well as trainings
in Amsterdam, Brussels, Budapest, Chihuahua (Mexico), Johannesburg (South
Africa), London, Munich, Novosibirsk (Russia), Ottawa, Paris, St. Petersburg,
Stavanger (Norway), and Toronto. One of her certified trainers has also
conducted a seminar in Taipai, Taiwan. The workbook was translated into
Mandarin for this training.
